As this page loads you will here a part of one of Stephen's favorite Irish folksongs.  This love for singing was only one of the many great sides to Stephen Boyd, sometimes I don't even know where to start.

He was very much into photography, painting seascapes, working out at home, reading, and studying roles and scripts.  He was also into self-hypnosis and developing the mind. Steve was hardly ever home but he did speak of it often and so I hope you enjoy this page.

Steve's last home was located in Tarzana, California. It is situated right of a busy main street at the foot of the hills and it is very quiet in spite of is location.  He enjoyed a pool and a tennis court, two bedrooms, two baths and other standard features. The living room also featured a large fire place.

Steve has been reported to have a huge king size mahogany four post bed. He also had a dog named Deirdre, a German Shepherd.

He spent time writing lyrics, answering phones, fan mail and writing his own storyboards and scripts. What other little facts you would like to know?

Well, here are some more answers to all those questions you may have!

Favorite Colors: Irish green, deep red-rose, and deep purple but colors he wears are conservative grays and tans.

Habits: Two cups of coffee in the morning and lots of smoking.

Favorite Authors: Ernest Hemingway, Somerset Maugham, Ted Allen, Canadian and Anoulih. By the way, he also owned author Brendan Behan (it is for sale on Amazon.com).

Favorite Playwrights: Sean O'Casey, Tennessee Williams, George Shields, Maxwell Anderson, Shakespeare, George Bernard Shaw, Eugene O'Neil.

Favorite Music: "very embarrassing--don't know a note of music, but just let me hear it, and I am happy.

Pet Aversion: Cucumbers.

Handicap: Shyness. Gets stupidly embarrassed meeting people for first time,  feels like crawling under the table, blushes, which infuriates him but he can't help it. But once he gets to acting a part on stage, becomes aggressive, sure of himself.

Art: Doesn't go for modern art at all because he didn't understand it. Likes anything that has anything to do with reality, like folk songs, which he sings for his own amusement. Likes Rubens, Van Gogh and Toulouse Lautrec paintings.

Favorite Stars: Julie Harris, Jean Simmons, Eleanor Parker, Jennifer Jones, Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, William Holden, Marlon Brando, Lee J. Cobb, Sir Laurence Olivier, and Michael Redgrave as an actor and a human being.

His Own Favorite Stage Role: Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire".

Favorite T. V. Show: Barnett's Folly, in which he played a very shy, backward villager, almost village idiot.

Phobias: Moths.

Collections: Ash trays. Filches them wherever he goes.

Bedtime: Sleeps with windows wide open, sometimes with tops of pajamas, sometimes with bottoms.

Physical fitness: Swims, plays tennis and plays golf. Works out with weights at home. Loves the outdoors a lot, did some boating at some point in time.

Characters he'd like to portray: Hamlet, Antony in "Julius Caesar". The Bastard of Orlean in "St. Joan", Henry . Wants do every kind of role in contemporary literature providing the character is real whether genuine bastard or what. Thinks there can be integrity in genuine phony, if the character is written with understanding and penetration He would very much like to play on Broadway.

Other Activities: Photography, home videos and all that makes man creative. He had a video camera during the filming of Ben Hur and used it behind the scenes. Wouldn't you love to get a hold of those home videos. It is a grand shame that all his belongings will be lost once his widow passes away if it hasn't already been destroyed.

It is always a shame when a person's life is not documented for other people to learn from. It doesn't matter if you are famous or not but when you pass, your loved ones want someone to remember you by. It is true that as long as a person is in the heart they are never forgotten and never far away but it helps to have items to remember the good times you had with that person

From what I understand, all of Stephen's paintings, writings, movies and recordings are still at the house he used to own but I cannot be sure.

So only his movies remain to show his true talent and his personal life will still remain the mystery that he wanted it to be.
