The Dating Games, The Friendships & The Rumors
About Brigitte Bardot, Stephen said: She is the most under-rated actress I know. She really is a very real person and full of life. She is a great comedian and I consider her a very good friend.
Stephen met Elizabeth Mills in 1955 when she rescued him off the London streets and gave him a place to stay and a job at the Odeon Theatre in London at Leicester Square Liz is reported to have married Stephen approximately 6-10 months before his death. Stephen has always referred to Elizabeth as his "dear friend". The fact is, she was living with him in his homes for the same period of time as his secretary and friend of 22 years. The relationship leaves many questions unanswered and it was never clear from the beginning. I expect that my research will only confirm that it will remain a mystery as I have been unable to successfully establish contact with her.
With Pat Stander at the "Pink Party" in honor of the movie "The Pink Panter" with Peter Sellers. I had the honor of speaking with Mrs. Stander recently and as everyone, she spoke very fondly of her friend.
With Irish pal Romney Tree at the 1959 Oscar ceremonies in spite of the fact that he was not nominated for Ben-Hur. He sat quietly and very focused next to her all night, as he watched some of his peers achieve the highest awards. There was no romance here either according to Boyd, just friendship.
With Hope ("Hopie" as he called her). The tabloids were full of stories about these two but it remains a mystery like so many stories about Stephen Boyd. He always wanted to maintain some mystery about him, so we leave it up to your imagination what really happened. To quote Stephen: "He liked her a lot as a friend".
Joan Collins was going through problems with Warren Beatty and Stephen, well, he just divorced from Mariella. In her biographies Joan mentions Stephen only very briefly and describes her relationship as co-workers that got on as friends only. |
